Risograph

Print your own zines, flyers, or illustrations on our two-drum Risograph in Tamachi, Tokyo.

A Risograph uses a separate stencil for each ink. As the colors layer on the paper, you’ll see new shades where they overlap, along with the small shifts and textures that give Riso its character.

What you can do here

Try it on paper

Change the paper, the ink density, or the way two colors overlap and see what happens. NOT GUTTER is a place to print it yourself and see the results as you go.

Take your prints home the same day

Take your prints with you at the end of your session. The machine prints quickly, which comes in handy when you need flyers in a hurry.

Three ways to print

We’ll show you how

First-Time Plan

We’ll walk you through printing. Choose Ichi-kara (60 min) if your artwork is mostly ready, or Zero-kara (90 min) if you’d like help making the print files.

At your own pace

Regular Plan

Back for another round? Choose your inks, masters, paper, and print quantity. You can bring your own paper, too.

Bring one photo

PHOTO ART LAB

Bring one image file or a photo on your phone. Turn it into two Riso postcards or one A4 poster.

How it works

1. Choose paper and ink

Bring your own paper, or choose from the paper available in store.

Paper

We sell A4, A3, and postcard-size paper by the sheet. Bring your own if you need B4, B5, or another size.

As a guide, the machine supports 46–210 g/m2. Some paper may not feed correctly depending on its surface or finish.

Print size

  • Print placementLeave room around the edges
  • Minimum paper for two colors at once100 x 246 mm

A postcard (100 x 148 mm) cannot be printed in two colors at once.
You can still print one color at a time. For two colors at once, print on paper at least 100 x 246 mm and trim it afterward.

Printing precisely to the edge of the paper is not possible. Paper feed and position can shift by a few millimeters, so keep text, QR codes, and other important elements at least 5-10 mm inside the final trim.

For the machine’s published specifications, see RISO’s official information (Japanese). Published figures do not guarantee the usable area of every print.

Full-bleed A3 printing is not possible. For A4, B5, postcards, and other smaller finished sizes, print on larger paper and trim afterward.

Ink

Choose from 20 ink colors to suit your artwork.

2. Prepare your artwork

Bring a black-and-white print file, drawing, or photo. You can also draw your artwork here.

For PHOTO ART LAB, bring one image file or a photo on your phone. We’ll prepare the print files and run the print for you.
