Risograph Color Chart
NOT GUTTER currently has 20 Risograph ink colors. The colors on this page are only a guide. Ink can look different depending on the paper and the way colors are layered, so we recommend checking the physical color chart at the studio when you can. The studio is in Tokyo, a 7-minute walk from JR Tamachi Station, so you can see the inks on real paper before you decide. You can also print with these inks yourself. - Colors may look different depending on your monitor, phone, or browser.
- Please prepare one black-only grayscale file for each ink color you want to print. The ink color is selected when we print.
- The black value in your file controls the ink density. For large solid areas and photos, use K80-90% or lower as a starting point. For four-color work or overlapping dark areas, we may ask you to reduce some plates to K70-80% or lower. The right density depends on the artwork, number of colors, and paper, so adjust it with test prints.
Risograph inks are fairly transparent, so printing one color on top of another blends them and gives you more colors than the 20 inks on this page. Each ink color is printed in a separate pass, which is why you plan the layers when you make your file. See how to prepare Risograph data.

Color Charts for Sale
We also sell physical Risograph color charts at the studio. Available in Long and Short.
These charts are made from extra sheets printed by visitors and by us at NOT GUTTER. Rather than letting them go unused, we selected sheets with interesting colors and textures and turned them into color samples.
Made in collaboration with the design unit _MISHMASH, each one has its own mix of colors and details. The covers and cases are also silkscreen printed here at the studio.
